Hello! I’m Betsy. This is a blog about how my husband, Manny, and I left a 400-sq-ft studio in Brooklyn for a historic bungalow and a quieter life in Savannah, GA.
I started the blog to document our efforts to renovate our first home — a fixer-upper in the form of a 1920 Aladdin Co. “kit house” in Savannah’s Gordonston neighborhood. She was one tired bungalow at first, but she’s come quite a long way since we moved in.
And so have we. We were naive newlyweds when we arrived in Savannah in August 2015. We bought our house assuming we would hire contractors to fix everything for us and be done with it all in a matter of months. Reality set in pretty quickly and we learned to DIY out of necessity. Now, a year later, I can truly say we’ve changed with our home.
If you’re interested in the full journey, start with the first post. Or read about how we completed a total kitchen renovation on a budget. Or browse as you see fit. Either way, thanks for joining us. Y’all.
