Do you guys remember the scary/awkward-nook? Well, we fixed it.
After searching high and low, we finally found the “just right” cabinet for our kitchen. Now, Manny thinks it *might* have termites. And, I mean… it’s possible. It looks like it could have termites. But I don’t care. Because I think our new pantry cabinet is so cute, so bougie rustic, so all-out cool, I’ll take it, possible-termite-infestation and all…
In case you’ve forgotten what the awkward nook *used* to look like, here’s a reminder.
Now, it looks like this:
What a difference a few months and some hard labor makes, amiright?
The shabby-chic cabinet is really the pièce de résistance in the new kitchen. We bought it this weekend to take full advantage of my bro and his gf, Alyssum, being in town to visit. Meaning: My bro has the muscles needed to load and move over-sized, solid-wood furniture.
Here he is at the store in town where we bought the cabinet: Universe Trading Co. It’s a weird store. Great… but weird.
(The Penguins are in the play-offs, btw. In case my bro’s attire didn’t make that clear.)
My stepdad, Steve, has a yuge SUV, which proved useful in transporting the cabinet from the store to our house. As the picture above perhaps suggests, Alyssum, my bro’s gf, and I had to walk to a little pub on Broughton to have a brew since there was no room for us in the car (and we were pretty sure the dudes could handle the task of getting the cabinet in the house by themselves).
(Our new outdoor pillows by Marimekko for Target! #TDF)
There were other fun developments this weekend. Remember when we chatted together about Marimekko for Target? Yesterday, Sunday, was the day! Alyssum and I got up bright and early and were the *first in line* at the East Savannah store. To be fair, two other ladies had beaten us to it by arriving half an hour before, but they saw there was no line and went and had breakfast and came back. Only two more arrived before the opening of the store with Marimekko stars in their eyes, and I knew them from work. And that was it — all of the Nordic-philes in town, it seems. Not quite Lilly Pulitzer for Target crowd-proportions, but I liked it way better that way, personally.
Anyway, I was able to snatch up some much-desired outdoor pillows. I may or may not have gotten some sweet beach-gear as well. (Okay, you got me. I did.)
All in all, we’re getting there with outfitting this little bungalow, slowly but surely. I do not know what I’m going to do with myself after all of this madness is totally over. Oh, wait — yeah I do. I’m going to cook delicious food and do things like jog in my free time and catch up on work and be a normal human again. Sigh. Almost there!
PS: Safe flight to Blake and Alyssum! And a special thanks for all of your help xo
